Reports To: Program Director of Hospitality Management
Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree and two years of relevant experience in leadership, business, education, non-profit, or hospitality management required. Classification Professional Staff Position Term 12 months
Basic Statement of Responsibilities: This position engages in outreach and recruiting for the Hospitality, Culinary, and Brewing apprenticeship program. The Apprenticeship Coordinator supports the work of the Internship, Apprenticeship and to recruit students into apprenticeship and engage employers to hire students as Registered Apprentices. This position must work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Specialized Skills:
*Required Minimum Qualifications:* Two years’ experience of relevant experience in leadership, business, education, nonprofit, or hospitality management required.
*Preferred Qualifications:* * Completion of a Registered Apprenticeship program. * Experience as an employer sponsor of Registered Apprenticeship. * Experience in sales or marketing. * Experience developing business and industry partnerships to support education. * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Organizational Relationships * Apprenticeship Recruiter reports directly and is responsible to the Program Director of Hospitality Management. * This position does not supervise any other positions. * This position interacts closely with hospitality businesses outside of the college and other departments within the college, community members, and prospective students and families. * This position works closely with current ACM students to help place apprenticeship site location.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions: * Develops a pool of registered employers in the Hospitality Industry (Including Culinary Arts, Catering, Baking, and Brewing) for the creation of new apprenticeship occupations and recruit additional registered employers for existing occupations approved through the Maryland Department of Labor. * Serve as the primary point of contact for employers in assigned occupations. * Collaborate with the ACM Marketing team to develop, disseminate, and update compelling employer and student recruiting materials including; video, social media, and website. * Support apprenticeship development for Hospitality occupations in coordination with the Internship and Apprenticeship. * Conduct student program orientations to review workbook parameters, eligibility requirements, course requirements, and general guidelines. * Ensure student adherence to state apprenticeship standards and recordkeeping requirements. * Prepare and submit reports based on documentation needed or required for workplace experiences. * Represent the College at career fairs and other events for the purpose of recruiting apprentices and employers. * Design and develop brochures, fliers, and general informational materials to promote the program. * Participate and attend all Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings for programs with Registered Apprenticeships. * Perform other duties as assigned.
Secondary Responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to learn and use College Software and Programs as necessary and Windows Office Suite. Must acquire knowledge of the Hospitality and Culinary Programs. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required. Ability to multitask. Time management Skills and organizational skills.
Working Conditions: This position requires light to medium work. The Apprenticeship Coordinator must travel to develop partnerships with businesses and attend events and career fairs. Possible overnight travel is required. Attendance at some evening and weekend events also will be required. Physical Effort Required This position may be sedentary at times, with light to medium work.
